The Doepfer A-110-4 TZ Quadrature VCO, a premium analog voltage-controlled oscillator with a through-zero frequency modulation for a rich palette of sonic possibilities. It is perfect for generating pure sine waveforms and musical frequency modulation (FM)

• Quadrature means it produces two waveforms at the same time: a sine wave and a cosine wave.

• Thru-zero means it can go past zero frequency and into what’s called “negative” frequency.

Negative frequency isn’t a real thing — what actually happens is:
When the control voltage goes down to 0 volts, the waves pause, and if the voltage goes below 0, the waves start up again but in the opposite direction (and the same the other way around).
